Job Description We are looking for a Biodiversity Specialist with 7+ years relevant experience within a consultancy background to join our team based in either Singapore, Jakarta or Kuala Lumpur.Diverse mix of projects, clients and locations in Asia to allow you to strengthen your specialist skills as a consultant providing excellent advice.Play a part in driving our services forward to internal and external stakeholders.Be part of our collaborative and supportive team in the Asia region, as well as provide technical leadership and mentorship to our junior consultants. You will be part of a team that has a track record of successfully undertaking environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA) and due diligence of renewable energy and other critical infrastructure projects. We enable our clients to secure financing through timely delivery of comprehensive ESIAs, meeting the needs of a variety of financing institutions within the context of international environmental and social performance standards or safeguards. We also support investors in assessing projects and assist in their decision-making processes resulting in responsible investment. Candidate Specification About youBachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline related to ecology/biology biodiversity, environment, or social sciences (Masters or post-grad qualifications highly desirable).7+ years’ experience working as an environmental consultant (with some level of ecology focus) or a specialised biodiversity practitioner/consultant Experienced in carrying out impact assessments, due diligence reviews and/or preparing management plans.Excellent English language skills (spoken and written). Working level proficiency in at least one regional Southeast Asian language will be a plus.Experience working with international social frameworks such as IFC Performance Standards, ADB Safeguards, or World Bank Environmental and Social Framework.Biodiversity assessments, including IBAT screening assessments, based on national and international standards including IFC PS6.Proficiency in use of ArcGIS software to generate drawings, layouts, maps, and graphics is a plus. Job Profile Focusing on biodiversity as technical expertise to support team on biodiversity studies and assessments based on national standard and international standard including IFC PS6 and IFC GN6.Relevant experience and knowledge on critical habitat assessments and biodiversity offsets management is desirable.Seek to grow and diversify the ecology skills within the team through sharing project experience, mentoring and training of junior consultants.Assist with proposal development related to biodiversity consultancy services.Field survey experience – planning, mobilising and managing health and safety risks.Manage projects including preparation of project work plans, schedules, budgets, the management of all technical activities and people coordination.Lead biodiversity studies, analysis and reporting as related to assigned projects.Conduct field surveys, sampling activities, supervise sub-contractors, and stakeholder engagement.Ensure compliance of project activities with national environmental regulations and international E&S standards.Enhance your relationship management skills by working collaboratively with clients and internal teams to ensure that biodiversity and, environmental considerations are taken into account.Think and work globally in partnership with E&S teams across Mott MacDonald.
